History and Stories: Lifted by Legacy
An annual Black History Month art exhibition in collaboration between 8News, the Black American Artists’ Alliance of Richmond and Virginia State University.
Exploring the intersections between history, journalism and art
8News photojournalists are challenged to put a creative spin on their typical coverage. Instead of solely focusing on videography to tell Black History Month stories, they also snapped still photographs. Many of them, finding their artistic voice in the process. Their photo prints are curated alongside work from the Black American Artists’ Alliance of Richmond and elements from the stories themselves. The multimedia exhibition is installed at Art Works in Southside Richmond and is on display during Black History Month.
